What can I use the ‘Shape Your City’ website for?

This website has two main functions:

* to provide information about the community empowerment agenda to a range of users, including local authority officers, elected Members, community development practitioners and individuals and communities

* to provide opportunities for individuals and organisations to directly engage with London Civic Forum on issues that affect them, thereby enabling and empowering Londoners to share their views and shape their city.

Users can visit our online discussion forums, consultations and surveys for opportunities to directly engage in policy and decision-making in the capital. In addition, the Empowerment Map is an online, interactive tool that enables individuals and organisations to identify empowerment activities taking place in their local area.

Additionally, the Resources section of this website provides a variety of information about community empowerment and engagement, including research reports, key policy documents and case studies highlighting best practice in community empowerment across London. All of these resources are free to download.

How is this website different from the London Civic Forum website?

London Civic Forum’s website provides members and users with information about London governance. It is also used to update individuals on the work of the organisation, to include information about London Civic Forum’s individual programmes, upcoming events and relevant news.

The ‘Shape Your City’ website is the organisation’s one-stop-shop for civic engagement and community empowerment. In addition to providing information, this website has been created specifically to enable our users and members to interact with us. Through our online tools for engagement, members can participate in key policy debates and help inform the Civic Forum of their views and concerns.

As a membership organisation, London Civic Forum is keen to address those areas of London policy that our members are most interested in. This website provides a virtual space for members to share their views with us and feed into the work that we do.
