Do you have problems accessing local services? Would you like to have your voice heard by local policy makers? Praxis Community Projects in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council are coordinating the New Residents and Refugee Forum. This forum will allow new communities to have access to local policy negotiation and ensure dialogue between new communities and service providers. The forum is open to statutory services, third sector organisations, and direct community representatives.
The forum is chaired by the head of the Scrutiny and Equalities Team of Tower Hamlets Council, and includes representatives from the NHS, Tower Hamlets PCT, Metropolitan Police, Housing Associations, and other public services. Of particular interest to Praxis is that new community members who are not represented see this as an opportunity to engage with policy makers to ensure more appropriate tailored service provision. We would particularly like to ensure new community members, including those with no recourse to public funds are represented, as this forum represents an opportunity to negotiate best practice amongst service providers at a local level.
