Tower Hamlets Law Centre

The Law Centre provides free legal advice and assistance. Our services are available to those that live, work or study in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We also have a range of legal advice and representation services for people living in other London Boroughs.

We have a specific commitment to people on a low income and to assist in those areas of law where no Legal Help is available.

The Law Centre is an important focus for community issues. Wherever possible we try to help groups in the area who need training, advice or campaign work around legal issues.

We are members of Tower Hamlets Community Advice Network (THCAN) along with the local Citizens Advice Bureau, the Limehouse Project and Island Advice. THCAN exists to streamline advice services for our clients, providing a more integrated referral procedure for clients requiring representation or for those with several problems across different areas of law.

We offer daytime appointments for advice in the areas of Housing, Immigration, Welfare Benefits, Debt, Employment & Discrimination and Education Law. There are regular monthly drop-ins for those with Housing problems, a weekly drop-in session for members of the Somali community with Welfare benefits problems; as well as help with form filling for those applying for or renewing their Disability Living Allowance and Incapacity Allowance claims.

The centre also runs an evening advice session each Monday evening, which alternates forntightly between Housing advice and General / Employment advice.
